Choosing the right castable from our extensive line-up is a matter of knowing the service conditions and the performance characteristics of the products.
From our Maxicast range we offer:
Conventional castables standard, coarse and special - for general purpose applications: usually contain 20-30% refractory cement plus aggregate and have characteristics similar to construction concrete. They are economically priced. Insulating castables standard, low iron and special - for general purpose insulating applications: rather than a hard aggregate these products use a porous lightweight aggregate to provide lower thermal conductivity and higher insulating values. Primarily used in back up linings and can be used as full thickness lining if they are not exposed to mechanical abuse or abrasion. Insulating castables with low iron show increased resistance to CO disintegration in applications with reducing atmospheres. Low cement castables - with less than 10% refractory cement, low cement products provide two to three times the strength of conventional castable for those severe applications requiring extraordinary strength and superior abrasion resistance. Ultra-Low cement castables - these feature less than 3% refractory cement and are designed to withstand the destructive forces of rapid heat up and cool down cycles.

Self-Flow castables - this generation of castable have low water requirements (below 6% in many cases), needs no vibration and results in a superior cast finish. The added ease of installation includes not only pouring but also the ability to pump the products into the application.
