Aluminium and Alumina The Company has long been a dominant supplier to aluminium smelters and we have FURNASCOTE and HIGLAZE a range of refractory high temperature coatings for the alumina calciners. High purity MAXIAL fireclay and insulating firebricks, MAXICAST pre-cast pre-fired shapes are offered to anode baking furnaces. In reduction cells MAXIAL fireclay brick and our insulating boards are the products of choice with the co-operation of our broad based international affiliation with overseas suppliers we are able to supply MAXISIL nitride bonded silicon carbide bricks and shapes along with cathode blocks. For melting and holding furnaces, we manufacture a wide range of aluminium resistant products such a pre-cast and pre-fired MAXICAST shapes coated with FURNASCOTE high temperature coatings resistant to aluminium alloys and corundum growth. We supply MAXIAL non-wetting brick, MAXICAST monolithics and a host of back up insulating castables and boards. MAXICAST, MAXIGUN and MAXIPLAS products are proven in alumina calciners where campaign lives have been extended considerably.
Iron and Steel This industry is a primary consumer of refractory materials worldwide and has been a key market for Refractech Pty Ltd from supply of pre-cast refractory shapes to flow control systems for Continuous casting of steel, BOS vessels and steel ladles to torpedo ladles, steel and iron transfer troughs to electric arc furnace refractories. The Company manufactures and also supplies from overseas affiliates refractories suitable for the most arduous of steel making environments. Mineral Processing The Company has long been a dominant supplier to the Cement and Lime industry. Refractech is considered by the Australian Cement and Lime producers as the most innovative engineering refractory company for design and improvement of refractory lining systems. For the pre-heater tower vessel, Refractech supplies Maxicast refractory pre-cast, pre-fired composite engineered shapes coated with the new Furnascote NONVIT high temperature refractory coating and HIGLAZE for reduction of alkali attack and where coating build-ups occur. Non Ferrous Metals Refractech provides a complete range of refractories for use in molten copper, nickel, lead, zinc, tin and other special non-ferrous metal applications. The range of MAXIMAG direct bonded magnesite – chrome brick along with many THERMBOND and MAXICAST monolithics and pre-cast shapes used throughout these industries to line the Converters, reverberatory furnaces, launders, flash smelters, rotary furnaces, boilers, roasters and heat/metal handling vessels. The supply of the new FURNASCOTE has provided an industry standard for protection of fired refractory from thermal shock, slag attack and corrosion. In combination with the high temperature release coating MAXICOTE 500H this olivine coating allows for easy removal of metal skins and skulls from launders and converter lips.
Petrochemical The modern petroleum refinery is undergoing a continuous evolution with changes in feedstock and more severe operating conditions. This creates a great demand on refractories.
